Currency Conversion

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Overview

For organizations with multi-currency profiles, Archipelago can store property valuations in their local currency while automatically calculating values in a single reporting currency. This helps consolidate valuation data across properties that use different currencies.

How currency conversion works

Each organization has a Display Currency used for reporting.

For each property, you can specify:

  • Valuation Currency- The property's local currency.

  • Exchange Rate- The rate used to convert the local value into display currency.

  • Exchange Rate Date- The date associated with the exchange rate used.

When the Valuation Currency differs from the Display Currency, Archipelago automatically calculates the converted value while preserving the original local value.

Required Information

To calculate converted values, the following information is required:

  • Display Currency

  • Valuation Currency

  • Exchange Rate

Note

  • Currency conversion is available for organizations that use multi-currency portfolios.

  • Exchange rates are provided by your organization and are not automatically retrieved from external sources.

  • Original local currency values are retained.

  • The Exchange Rate Date records when the exchange rate was applied.

Does Archipelago automatically update exchange rates?

No. Exchange rates are provided by your organization and used for the currency conversion.

Can one portfolio contain multiple currencies?

Yes. Each property can have its own valuation currency while reporting is consolidated using the organization's display currency.
